Who should come to WITS? Do I have to be a woman to attend?

Anyone who works in the travel space is more than welcome at WITS. You do not have to be a woman to attend, though our programming and all related activities will be focused on women in travel. At WITS you’ll find bloggers, journalists, travelers, writers, creators, PR/brand reps, entrepreneurs, nonprofiteers, business developers, coders, videographers, photographers, teachers, and more. WITS is also firmly committed to diversity and inclusion. We aim to make our events inclusive for attendees of all races, nationalities, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, ages, body sizes, and abilities. If you have a suggestion for how we can better accommodate you, we’d genuinely love to hear from you.

How can I get involved with WITS?

There are a few ways you can get involved: purchase a ticket, get your company or brand to sponsor or exhibit, or volunteer with us (sign up for our newsletter to find out when volunteer opportunities open).

What does a ticket to WITS get me?

So much! Access to any session you’d like to attend, entry to all our official parties and events, meals, coffee breaks, our famous Sunday Brunch, plus the opportunity to network with amazing influencers and brands, the chance to snag a ticket for some special city tours and FAM trips, and a ton of free swag. Note that in order to attend Blogger 101 sessions, you must purchase a Blogger 101-inclusive ticket.

Which type of ticket should I buy?

Industry tickets are for empowered travel professionals and travel company reps. Media tickets are available at a discount for influencers who will be covering WITS on social media and their websites during the summit. We have a limited number of press tickets available for journalists who will be covering WITS in major news publications. Please contact us to inquire about a press ticket. You must be able to show proof of employment at a major news organization in order to qualify for a press ticket.

What are Blogger 101 sessions?

Blogger 101 sessions are an extra pre-conference block of programming (with an extra meal included!), specifically designed for attendees who are new to blogging and digital content creation and interested in becoming a travel influencer. This is an opportunity for beginner bloggers (or those who have not yet started a blog but would like to) to get a head start on the exciting and informative sessions taking place at WITS. Participants will learn from experienced bloggers, influencers, and entrepreneurs about content development and promotion. Blogger 101 costs $100 USD more than a regular ticket, and will take place on the morning of Friday May 1st, before regular sessions begin. If you’d like to attend, be sure to purchase a Blogger 101-inclusive ticket. If you did not purchase a Blogger 101 ticket and would like to attend, Blogger 101 may be added for an extra $50 fee in addition to the $100 cost. Contact us if you’d like to add Blogger 101 to your already-purchased ticket.

I can’t afford a ticket. What should I do?

A limited number of volunteers will be offered free tickets to WITS in exchange for their service at the event. Sign up for our newsletter to find out when applications open.

I don’t have a credit card/You don’t accept my credit card. Can I still come?

Contact us and we’ll see if we can work it out.

What is your ticket refund/cancellation/transfer policy?

All WITS tickets are non-refundable and non-deferrable. Tickets to WITS North America cannot be used at or transferred to WITS Europe, or vice versa. Tickets may be transferred, no more than one time, until March 1, 2020. After this date, tickets are non-transferable. Individuals buying or selling a ticket must coordinate any transfer of funds themselves. Ticket transfers may be requested only by completing this form. Both parties will receive a confirmation email when the transfer is complete, typically within one week of submitting a request.

Where should I stay?

You can stay right at our host hotel, where all WITS sessions are taking place! We have a block of rooms available for $154/night at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Make the most of the camaraderie of WITS by staying with us right in the heart of the city! Click here to book your hotel.

How do I get to Kansas City?

All attendees are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to attend WITS. KC is a well-connected city with many transportation options, including: Flying direct into Kansas City International Airport; flying into another airport like Chicago’s O’Hare or Midway or St. Louis Lambert International and taking an an Amtrak train to KC; taking a flight or train from hundreds of cities around the country; or driving.

When should I arrive to KC?

Official WITS activities begin on the morning of Friday, May 1st and last through the afternoon of Sunday, May 3rd. Pre- and post-conference tours and FAM trips begin a few days before the 1st and end a few days after the 3rd. Regardless of if you plan to join us on a tour or FAM trip, we recommend coming into town one to three days before and/or after WITS weekend so that you can maximize your time sightseeing in the area.

Will I need a car?

Probably not. KC is a major metropolitan area with both buses and a free streetcar service. Additionally, our host hotel, the Kansas City Marriott Downtown, is smack dab in the middle of the city. Cabs, rideshare services, and shuttles are also available from the airport and train station (as well as throughout the city). Additionally, any tours or official events (like our opening party) that stray far from the hotel will have transportation provided.

How can I or my company sponsor WITS?

Check out our partnerships page. We are seeking inspired companies that are interested both in growing or enhancing their relationship with women travelers and working with travel content creators and influencers. Partnership opportunities include online promotions, booth space, giveaways, official parties, coffee hours, tours, and more. This is just a taste; we encourage you to contact us to discuss how we can give your brand the exposure it deserves.

I have an idea for a speaker, session, or something else at WITS. Where can I tell you about it?
